1. Old news 2010

Janurary News 2010 The start to a new year, there is lots of change at Ard Cherrymount Stud. Richard has moved out on his own and I have joined forces with George Newton, a very successful producer of young horses. We hope to offer you all a good stallion base and many potential horses and ponies to continue the great success we always enjoyed seeing our clients achieve. The good news for breeders with be the return of Clover Flush for the 2010 season. Proving his stock can make it with 'Harristown Princess' (sired by Clover Flush sired before he headed off to Australia), Winning the Grand Prix at Kill International EC in an exciting finish at the close of 2009 jumping season The stallions we will now have on offer for this coming season will be ;- bullet Natal, now sire of five horses that have competed at International level. bullet Simply Javlin, International Jumper and successful eventing sire bullet Clover Flush, Winner of 1.60m International Grand Prix and representing Australia bullet Sillogue Maximus Fully Approved Connemara Pony. Full brother to Pony of the Decade 'Sillogue Darkie' We have mares due to foal to Natal this spring. We have a selection of youngstock, young riding horses and three potential 14.2 registered Connemara geldings soon ready for sale but these will be listed shortly. Feburary News 2010 We have all, but one, of the ponies measured ready for the coming season. Our little pony the was 126cm is now a very full 128cms to my surprise as she was five years old when she was first measured! One of the 148cms ponies was full up too but made it thankfully. March, April, May News 2010 Three months going very fast! Sillogue Maximus has settled in well and is showing favour with the breeders. At last I now have a picture of him for you to see (below) and a page here on our site, just click on his name.    It is amazing to think he is by Ard Talisman that we bred those many years ago . I have had lovely emails from people who had related stock from us over the years and they are delighted to hear we have him and are delighted to hear that we can offer frozen and chilled semen from him too, which is great particularly for our seas clients Natal is also doing very well and here on the stud we have just had two beautiful colts by him, which I will picture here soon. I have heard that Natal has a very exciting seven year old doing very well in Germany and causing quiet a stir, so I will have to do some more research on that. Eva Bitter's stallion 'Argellith Neils' is also doing very well for Germany too. The riding horses are soon going to be ready to go to shows. We also have three lovely Connemara geldings now ready for sale and I will put up their details very soon   June News 2010 Two of our three Connemara geldings are now sold. The first arrived with his new owner today the 8th and I got this email; Casper arrived safely today! He's better than we anticipated, we loved him on the video but in person he is gorgeous! His conformation is fabulous, I judge on the heritage panel and I haven't seen a connie as nice this yr! He is currently tucking into his net! I will still have 'Jack the lad' and I have to take him for measuring tomorrow and he does need a little more work anyhow. Must do a video of him too. My lovely mare Riza had a beautiful bay colt by Natal at the end of May but Riza was sick 11 days later. She appeared to be clean but showed all the signs of Plesentitus or worse. I have had her on eight days of treatment using the most expensive drugs and it looks as if we have it stabilised and she is just beginning to show improvements. I have a lovely young Douglas gelding that I hope to get out to a show shortly. It was great to see that the first and second in the 4y'old RDS Dublin Horse Show Qualifer were by Douglas and the week before I noticed two winners at a One Day Event in the UK. They do seem to be doing well. Conan has two wins in Mullingar Int Show this last week end on his pony Jack and has another RDS qualifier at the beginning of July. I found this video (above right) of one of Natal's sons 'Lil Majd' and he is still jumping this year.   July and August News 2010 It is about time I updated this site! So as last I have a few moments to get this going again and bring you all up to speed. It is September now but I will re cap on anything may interest you. The stud season came to a close preceding the Dublin Horse Show. Sillogue Maximus has headed off to commence his show jumping career, and having seen him jump loose here, I think he has a great future if all goes well. Clover Flush was invited to take part in the Showjumping Championships stallion parade and showed himself very well. Natal is now owned and will be standing permanently here at Ard Cherrymount Stud. And Simply Javlin has been turned out with his late visiting mares for the Winter. Generally it wasn't the most booming stud season I have to say, but that would be in tune with the present economy. I heard so many people saying were not even covering mares this year so it came as no surprise. It also suited very well and gave us a chance to get our horses and ponies sorted and a general Stud overhaul. Conan (above) had a great Horse Show with a win in the International Pairs Relay with Shane Breen, Conan had to qualify to be paired off with an international rider. Conan was victorious with Shane and it was great. September News 2010 We have a beautiful new addition, in partnership with our friend Gerry, to Ard Cherrymount Stud with 'Donevan'. He is a beautiful colt by BMC Unanium out of a Faust-Z mare These pictures were taken of him last year as a weaned foal. His sire is doing extremely well at 1.50m level showjumping now, and we have great hopes for this elegant fellow as he has loads of quality and when he trots he floats on air all the time. Loose jumped our Connemara gelding Jack the Lad and even though very fat and off the field he still looks be be a very good jumper, over 1.35 and looked as though it was easy!    Sunday 26th Sept Took the Douglas 4 year old and the Javlin filly cross-country schooling which was great fun and they went well. We took them to Carlanstown which is a great place to start off young ones and it has a great river to jump into too. October 2010 to March 2011 News I completely neglected our web site, so I am back here to fill you all in on  the news and were we have got to. Simply Javlin went back to the North of Ireland to stand again and be out with his mares. It will be happier for him as he was used to being the 'top dog' as one could say and it was hard to keep weight on him but he is great again now. That leaves us with Clover Flush and Natal for the 2011 season. We have set up our YouTube account 'Irelandhorse1' for clips of horses and ponies plus many fun things. Harristown Princess won her first time out this season at the Chippison Grand Prix in Kill in fine style. We look forward to her jumping abroad again this year. Natal's progeny entered the eventing scene this season with Belview Natalina  winning the Pre-Novice in Dromiskin on 26/3/11. Ridden by Jim Newsome, owned by Carole Hawthorne and bred by Ruth Loney. I understand Jim thinks a lot of this mare and thinks she has a great future. Then we found the great news that out colt Donevan's (pictured above in our Sept 10 news) sire BMC Unanium finished 5th in the BCM Grand Prix of Amsterdam. That is the top notch in showjumping over a tract of 1.60m and rideden by Ben Schröder. High Flyer 'Casper' (pictured left), The Connemara 14.2hh gelding that we sold to Claire Collier in the Uk, Has produced him well and has now won a number of Championships in WHP, well done Claire and Emmie, so 2011 should be a good year for them.   Here is  a video (above) of Harristown Princess ridden by Paddy O'Donnell, winning the Kill International March 2011 Chippison Spring Tour. It shows the last round against the clock and looked very impressive. Clover Flush is standing this year at a reduced fee of €500. He proved to be a leading sire in Autralia and came back to Ireland to stand with us in 2006 so he has four y'olds this year. We have a very nice 3 y'old called Ard Janette, very like Princess to look at. Natal has also hit the news with his daughter 'Bellview Natalina' winning the Pre-Novice One-Day-Event at Dromiskin, ridden by Jim Newsam. Natalina was bred by Ruth Loney and is pictured here right. Natal only stood in Ireland for the 2005 season. Then back in Ireland in 2009 so he only has a small number of 5 y'olds and yearlings!    Competition horses, Stallions, Showjumpers, Event horses and Connemara Ponies.   results from our ponies and our top rider Conan Wright
